Food Stamps for the Unemployed

If you are unemployed and have no dependents you can still get Food Stamps. When you go to your Food Stamp interview, your worker will have you fill out special form and schedule an appointment for you at the Department of Employment and Training. After your appointment, you have three months to take part in a job search program, enroll in employment training, attend job fairs, or accept a reasonable job offer to keep food stamp benefits. The rule does not apply to people with children 6 years old or younger, people with disabilities or people being applying for Food Stamp at the Newport Economic Services Office.
